What Exactly Is This?
Colony collapse disorder (CCD) is the phenomenon that occurs when the majority of worker bees in a colony disappear or die off and leave behind a queen, plenty of food and a few nurse bees to care for the remaining immature bees and the queen. A lot of the time there aren’t many dead bees
found near the hive.

Are We The Only Ones To Blame?
The main cause of CCD is still unknown, but some possible reasons are pathogens, environmental stressors climate change, parasites, & management stressors. A combination of these factors is the most likely reason the bees are dying, as opposed
to just one.

Does This Mean We're Doomed?
We will have a lot less variety in our food and prices would rise due to lack of supply and an increase in demand. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and even dairy and beef products would be scarce because bees pollinate the food that cows eat. Coffee, cotton, and our immune systems would also take a hit.

It's Not Too Late To Help
There are many ways that we can help save the bees. We can plant bee friendly plants such as goldenrod, stop using pesticides, buy local honey, become a beekeeper or make a bee-house. We can also safely remove and release a bee back into the wild instead of killing it if it comes into our homes.

It's Fun And Easy!
Many people have helped to tell their communities about Colony Collapse Disorder and how we need to save the bees and you can too! You can write to your government, spread posters, organize a fundraiser or plant bee flowers at your school.
